  1. Well done it's a great coin 🙂 I know NGC is easier to grade with in the UK due to a few passthrough companies, but I would seriously consider PCGS's options. Sign up (I think for free), and take a look at their "Set Registry", it's honestly far suprior. I can submit a few coins here and there to PCGS for people on the forum, not in bulk and not all of the time, mainly for a few new collectors looking to get started!

  2. I did just post this on another thread but this also seems like a good place to share it. Many people don't know this, and it is why PCGS slabs often sell for more money. It is also why you should buy the coin and not the slab, I do very well with my crossovers due this. Last 30 days if crossovers at PCGS:

  3. @CaptCaveMan Yes as I say convenience is important, but I did an awful lot if research before deciding, as my collection will be #1 at either grading body, and the features available with PCGS among other factors was important to me. Generally top coins end up with PCGS, their grades are also often accepted to be better, which is why crossovers aren't easy from NGC to PCGS, this is also why PCGS slabs tend to sell for a premium. Don't rush the decision, but if you are only starting out I would day do whatever is easiest and cheapest for you. Here are some crossover stats from PCGS as an example for the last 30 days:

  4. No they don't work together, when you cross a coin (to PCGS at least), they send you the NGC cert back. You then have to send this to NGC and hope they accurately act on it. After my recent correspondence with NGC I'm not too trusting in their processes, which for me isn't surprising. So before I send off any certs I am writing some scripts on the backend of the reference to store historical pop reports weekly. That way when I send certs off I can more easily see the figures change. Super important when like me you have single finests or an example where only 3 exist etc.

  5. Just been reading the process on both sites, nothing's mentioned about informing the registry's if a crossover is successful. edit: I'd assume not as it's not mentioned but suspect they would return the label(s) with the coin(s) so you have to do the honor's at your cost.

  6. Cat is officially out the bag, the mint are releasing a 5 coin pattern set (first they have done since 1937). Basic information that I believe is accurate, is that each coin will be a piedfort, 1/4 sov through to Quintuple. Each will be plain edge and the set will have a mintage of 70. So it going to be sort after. Someone has posted as set up for sale on ebay as a pre-sale (incorrectly describing it, but close enough) and there is chatter across other forums and groups. If anyone hears anything post here.... 🙂

  8. I had the ability to edit in this section but now that feature has gone. Try it again Steve, it may have disappeared for you too? Edit: Ah, It's a one use feature. I expect I've now lost it again. Edit 2: I can edit this post but no other. Maybe only 'recent posts'?
